Description
Car park in front of Restaurant Strobl
The trail starts behind the car park (signpost indicating Col dei Bos) at the signposts outside the forest, keep to the right and in about 30 minutes you will reach the start of the ferrata.
The ferrata consists exclusively of fixed ropes with the addition of a few stirrups at the most critical points.
The initial part is definitely the hardest, with few supports and handholds, and where you really have to use the cable and the fixtures that support it. At the end of the first vertical section, the cable leads to the right to a vertical chimney that is crossed by using your arms.
At the end of this section, the ferrata becomes easier, the holds increase and the cable is only used as a handrail. You then come to another very exposed point where a stirrup placed to the left of the cable helps the ascent.
After passing a traverse on the right, very exposed but short and with excellent holds, the ferrata alternates vertical sections with traverses rich in natural holds. Pay attention to the last section a few metres from the end of the ferrata, which is on fairly smooth rock and can be very slippery in wet weather.
Exceptional views from the summit. It is possible to climb to the summit, following several tracks, (2559 m).
From the end of the path, an obvious track leads to the left to a fork. From here, the path descends steeply over gravel terrain and is therefore to be taken with great caution.
We thus return to the plateau where the military posts and the helicopter landing site are located.
NOTE:
Cables always tight. The ferrata takes about 2 hours, but given the queues that are often found, you can calculate a little longer.
