Access

At the [A5] motorway exit of Aosta Est, take State Road 26 and continue in the direction of the provincial capital. Once in Aosta, follow the signs for Pila until you reach Pont-Suaz: from here, having crossed the Dora Baltea, continue in the direction of Charvensod, which you will reach after about 7 km. When you reach the main town you can park your car in the car park in front of the Town Hall.

Introduction

Beautiful walk to a small church near Charvensod. The shortness of the route makes it interesting, especially if you want to walk it in the late afternoon: a route for those who like to relax in spirituality in the presence of nature.

Description

Leaving your car in the car park in front of the Charversod municipality, cross the regional road to Pila and walk towards the historic centre, following the signs for the Sainte- Colombe church. One enters the village following the curious toponymic panels along the way; one passes the Municipal Library and in a few minutes reaches the Chapel of Saint-Fabien and Saint-Sébastien. Neglect the path that starts to the left of the chapel and continue slightly downhill through the narrow lanes of the hamlet; in a few minutes you reach a small asphalt road near a votive shrine. Climb up the little road, passing a few more houses, until you reach another shrine, near which there is a signpost indicating the path to Alpe Ponteille (1706 m, 2h45'). We ignore this path and continue along the main road that crosses a beautiful meadow basin. After a few minutes, the road forks: we climb up the steep little road on the left, hemmed in by wild cherry and hazel trees. After a short bend to the right, we come to another fork: we turn left and follow the path no. 14MM. We walk along a short stretch of farm road and in a few minutes we enter a cool forest: the road has become a path that runs alongside an irrigation canal and in a few moments leads us to the little white church of Sainte-Colomba.

The return journey follows the same route as the outward journey.
