Description
From Passo Rolle, we follow the path beside the Passo Rolle hotel, passing a small chapel.
We continue on the path, passing by the barracks of the Guardia di Finanza.
We start to climb up the ski slope, ignore the signpost to the right for Lake Cavallazza and continue up towards the Tognazza peak until the arrival of the chairlift. Here we follow the signs for Cavallazza Piccola, a 2300m peak with its impressive caves.
To reach the caverns, there are some sections equipped with a metal cable, nothing particularly exposed.
From the summit we first descend and then climb again towards the summit of Cavallazza (2324m).
We then take the obvious path towards the Colbricon lakes and finally continue on a comfortable walk to Passo Rolle.
To return to the car, instead of following the path to the Malga Rolle, we continue to the right, passing in front of the bar-restaurant La Baita, go up the ski slope on the left (less steep) and we find ourselves at the Guardia di Finanza barracks.
Note that the first photos attached to this report refer to the Pale di San Martino and Punta Rosetta.
Having spent a week in that area, we decided to go to the Pale to see if there really was that much snow..........there was.
We quickly climbed up to Punta Rosetta but then opted to change area, and look for something less 'snowy', and so we headed for Cavallazza
