Access

Leave the [A5] motorway at the Verrès exit, enter the roundabout and take the second exit. Head towards the historic centre and, after 300 metres, turn left onto the regional road towards Val d’Ayas. Follow the regional road for 22.1 kilometres, passing through the villages of Challand-Saint-Victor and Challand-Saint-Anselme, Brusson, Vollon and Extrapieraz until you reach the junction for Antagnod in the hamlet of Corbet. Turn left and follow the regional road towards Antagnod, passing through the villages of Lignod and Antagnod. After about 4 kilometres, turn left and head up Route Barmasc for a further 4 kilometres until you reach the large free car park 🅿️ at Barmasc.

Introduction

The Big Bench in Barmasc is one of the giant benches featured in the Big Bench Community Project. The Big Bench project involves the installation of giant benches in scenic locations across various parts of Italy, including Monferrato, the Reggio Apennines, the Langhe and the Aosta Valley. This is the sixth bench to be installed in the Aosta Valley. It requires no particular effort to reach and is situated in an extremely scenic spot: the view of the nearby peaks of the Monte Rosa Massif is not to be missed.

0h00' From the car park, follow the signs for the Sanctuary and walk down the tarmac track, which leads to the Le Solitaire restaurant in a few minutes. Continue now along the mule track, the inter-valley path , and after a few minutes you will come to the giant bench no. 309 on the right 0h05' .

The return journey follows the same route as the outward journey 0h05' .
