Patrick Morrow is born

Patrick Morrow, a mountaineer and photographer, was born on 18 October 1952 in Invermere, Canada. In 1986, he became the first person to complete both Richard Bass’s and Reinhold Messner’s ‘Seven Summits’ lists, finally climbing Puncak Jaya (Carstensz Pyramid) in New Guinea – the peak Morrow chose in place of the lower Kosciuszko in his own version of the list. In 1982, he also reached the summit of Everest.
