Renato Casarotto is born

Renato Casarotto, one of the finest mountaineers of the 1970s and 1980s, was born on 15 May 1948 in Arcugnano (Vi). He was renowned for his countless ascents and the opening of complex routes in extreme conditions (in winter and as a solo climber) in the Alps, the Dolomites, Patagonia, Peru and Pakistan.
