Access

From Milan with the SS36 to Lecco. After crossing the bridge over the Adda, take the superstrada to the right for Valsassina.
After the last tunnel, continue over the Balisio pass, once you have reached Introbio enter the village, follow the signs for Biandino and park where the inter-parking road begins (590m).The Biandino mountain hut keepers occasionally call the removal service for unauthorised cars.
After heavy snowfalls access to the Troggia valley is prohibited due to the considerable danger of avalanches.

Description

From the Introbio car park, a series of shortcuts leads first to the San Carlo spring (1h00') then to the second Troggia car park, near an agriturismo.
Here you can put on your snowshoes.
On the left a path runs along the right bank of the Troggia, on the right the road continues. On the road, the snowshoes are mostly useless, depending on the snow conditions.
The two itineraries rejoin just before the Biandino pass.
From the pass (2h30'), admiring the beautiful view of the valley, take a right, cross a small bridge and follow the track marked out by the mountain hut keepers, which can change every year.
You will then reach the San Pio X house, continuing northwards towards the pass now in view on magnificent slopes suitable for snowshoes and even skis.
At the pass, in a few minutes you are at the refuge below (4h00').
