Monte Faraut, from Sant'Anna di Bellino
Access
You go up the Varaita Valley as far as Casteldelfino, shortly afterwards turn left and follow the Bellino Valley to the end
.Description
From Sant'Anna di Bellino, take the path to Colle dell'Autaret and Pian Ceiol. Crossing the plateau to the left, face the Barricate gorge: with plenty of snow and making sure that there are no abundant and unstable accumulations on the rock faces above, follow the bottom of the gorge in its entirety and with a last steep ascent, come out on the upper levels near a hut. Alternatively, with little snow in the gorge, walk along the slopes to the left near the summer path, reaching a wide upper gully.
From the upper levels, head southwards, following the wide valley between Monte Pence, Monte Faraut and Buc Faraut.
After a series of gentle bumps, you reach the bottom of the gorge, which rises with a final, steeper slope; if necessary, an ice axe may be useful for greater safety.
On this slope, you will reach the ridge, which to the left soon leads to the cross on the wide summit.
Descent along the ascent route.
