Introduction

The pass is located to the east of the southern end of the Pietra Rossa lake, below the rocky Serra pass. It allows the connection between the Arpy valley and the Leseney valley. An excursion that allows one to descend in picturesque and absolutely untravelled environments. Very beautiful descent (photo section between the col and Lazey), with almost always good snow for the exposure.

Description

From the San Carlo pass (1971m) you reach Lake Arpy (2063m) along the mule track (some avalanche danger in the last traverse). Skirt the lake and continue along the bottom of the valley in the direction of Mont Colmet. The valley forms three terraces: the first is climbed to the right and then crossed from right to left (small plateau at 2229m); the second to the left of the rocky ridge on the left and then with a long diagonal from left to right; the third through a small valley from left to right up against the mountain and then with a traverse to the left to the basin of the Pietra Rossa lake (2553m).

You pass over the south-eastern end of the lake, briefly climb the wide col Cormet valley, and take a nice slope that leads to a little plateau from where, between large boulders, you reach the wide ridge. From here, it is a short descent to the Pietra Rossa pass (2713m). From the col, descend eastwards to the plateau below where the Goillat lakes are located.

Then take the nearby little valley that you leave in view of the plateau below the Leseney houses, which are under a large rock. Then follow the route of the summer trail to descend through a sparse forest halfway up the hillside (do not descend towards Montagne Alta as the forest is too dense), heading out towards La Joux and then Lazey (1500m).

From Lazey, descend along the road to Chabodey and then Le Pont di La Salle.
