Introduction

A mountain whose ridge towards the sea divides the Pietra Ligure-Loano-Borghetto and Albenga sides. It is interesting for its panorama and for some particular species of flowers that grow on its ridge in spring.

Description

If you are on holiday near Loano, are bored of making sandcastles with your child and miss a little walk in the mountains, Monte Acuto can offer you a healthy half-day excursion. Leave your car and head for the dirt road leading to the Sanctuary of Monte Croce. Upon arriving, on the right is the signpost that begins our trail marked with the red empty square, one of the many nice non-standard symbols chosen by the IJF to mark the trails. The path first enters the forest and immediately reaches the ridge from which you can admire Balestrino and Monte Carmo 1389 m, another Lo Loano classic, and then descends to a saddle from which you can already see our summit and the path with its ups and downs on the western side. Following the path and the occasional signs, you arrive at a stone building with a view of the Albenga side. From here you ascend decisively towards the summit signposted with a stick planted in the ground. Trekking shoes and long trousers are recommended due to the presence of many rocks sticking out of the ground and tall, annoying grass in places. Return along the same route or, if you wish, you can continue along the steep path that leads to Monte Croce and then to Borghetto.
