Access

After leaving the first car in Ormea (Cn) with the second car, climb up from Cantarana to Colle di Caprauna (1379 m). Here you descend a little until you see a dirt road on the left, on the right there is a clearing where you can leave your car.

Introduction

Interesting traverse that, thanks to some dirt tracks and wide paths, contours around Mount Armetta, passing through vast forests.

Description

On foot, descend for 15' and, ignoring a second diversions, take the third up a forest road. In an easy way, you continue, ignoring some branches. One rises in altitude, easily, and reaches the pass of San Bartolomeo, 1446 m. Here you choose the track that descends towards Ormea, plunging into a dense forest. The path follows the old route that once joined Ormea to Alto and among the vegetation the Barchi tower stands out. Continuing downhill, there is a fork: both routes lead to Ormea and you opt for the one on the right, which is faster but perhaps a little steeper downhill (and a little steep at first). When you reach the river, you proceed towards the town to recover the first car at Ormea 732 m.

In summary: discrete day's disl. +200 mt -700 mt Dif. T 15 km for about 4h45 Tot. + all the breaks to see the various places. Average ride comfort: very good, except for a short, scarce stretch at the beginning of the final descent
