Beautiful excursion in an environment dominated by mountain pine and marmots. Ideal for discovering the fascinating world of the Sarneri. Not to be missed is a visit to the Durnholz parish church with frescoes from the 1400s.

Description

Just beyond the parish church, where the school building is located, is the signpost indicating the pass, marker number . We then set off up the steep meadow in the direction of Pronn, the last hut in Durnholz. From here, cross a wooden barrier and enter the forest. You walk alternating between steep sections in the trees and gentler sections at the edge of forage fields. You will then reach a characteristic hut at an altitude of 1900 metres, where the forest gives way to an impressive slope of mountain pines, among which finding the trail can be decidedly tricky, even if the direction is obvious. With a little luck, you can also find markers on boulders protected by the thick mountain pines. One now crosses an impressive slope covered by the scorched trunks that were the remains of a fire a few years ago. Past this section, the pass can be glimpsed on the right, which is reached by a final, tiring but not difficult ramp. From the pass there is a beautiful view of the Pennes valley below, where, having two cars at your disposal, you could even descend. Obviously, in this case, the time is considerably longer. If you wish to return to Durnholz, all you have to do is retrace the ascent you have just made.
