Introduction

this lake is known by three names: Lago del Camino, according to the best-known local hiking literature (Valsesia and Monte Rosa, by Don L. Ravelli), or as Lago della Caudrola, or finally, according to I.G.M. topography, as Lago della Casera Nuova. It can be reached from the town of Riva Valdobbia (VC), following the communal road for Ca' di Janzo (Val Vogna). from Ca' di Janzo follow the carriage road and go past the hamlets at the bottom of the valley to the artificial lake at the hamlet of Peccia (45 min). from this point follow the mule track at the bottom of the valley past the so-called "Napoleon's" bridge and cross the Vogna river. Continue along a well-marked mule track passing by the Buzzo Alp (20 min), the Pioda Alp (40 min) and after a further 20 min. you reach a grassy pastureland plateau. from here you can see a straight path on the left orographic side that climbs towards the N. Following it you climb up into a small side valley, at the bottom of which is the lake. Beautiful, undemanding hike. ideal time of year June - September. risk of clouds and rain at the head of the valley.
