Description
It has always been one of the largest towns in the Aosta Valley in terms of size. Situated at the mouth of the valley of the Cervino, it has always combined the ancient agricultural vocation with the more bourgeois vocation of commerce and, in more recent times, industrial production.
.
The village is dominated by a castle where the Counts of Challant, the main noble family of the valley, once resided, now owned by the Passerin d'Entrèves family, who have opened the surrounding park, rich in centuries-old monumental plants, to the public. A second park, which can also be visited, surrounds the castle of Baron Gamba, at the western end of the village.
The presence of modern sports facilities has made it the preferred venue for Juventus' summer retreats.
